Stay very near to Padmanabhapuram Palace
Padmanabhapuram Palace is a spectacular 16th-century wooden palace that serves as a unique cultural anomaly: while it is located in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, it is owned, maintained, and governed by the Government of Kerala.
This "island of Kerala" within Tamil Nadu was the seat of power for the erstwhile Travancore Kingdom until the capital was moved to Thiruvananthapuram in 1795.The palace is widely considered the largest wooden palace in Asia and is a masterclass in traditional Kerala architecture (Taccusastra or the science of carpentry).
